Q:

How can I add a custom bottom banner to all of the messages posted to a list?

Answer by Ben Parker
Chief Corporate Consultant, L-Soft

For a long time LISTSERV has had the capability to automatically add special text at the bottom of messages posted to a list. This is typically used for unsubscribe instructions but can be any text that you want to include. On some commercial lists, the bottom text (or the top text) can even be an advertisement. This special added text is called a "banner" and is configured in the aptly named BOTTOM_BANNER mail template.

Montgomery County Welcomes L-Soft to Bethesda

L-Soft welcomed the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development's Bernadette Goovaerts, Director of IT and Cyber Strategy, and Gene Smith, Program Manager, to its new U.S. headquarters office in Bethesda, MD, in November. L-Soft was the first company to participate in Montgomery County's MOVE program, which aims to attract cybersecurity, green technology, IT and life sciences businesses to the county by providing financial assistance to reduce first-year rent costs.

"Montgomery County is a growing IT and innovation hub, rich with business opportunities right in its own backyard because of an unmatched number of federal government agencies and non-profits, plus many leading companies, colleges and universities," Steve Silverman, Director of the Department of Economic Development, said. "County Executive Leggett and I are pleased to welcome L-Soft – a pioneering and longstanding company with a tremendous presence across all sectors – as the first of our MOVE Program participants."

MOVE Program Representatives

L-Soft CEO Eric Thomas and VP of Business Operations Vinh Hoang gave Goovaerts and Smith a tour of L-Soft's new Scandinavian-inspired office in downtown Bethesda, and Hoang received the MOVE program check on behalf of the company.

L-Soft Founder and CEO Eric Thomas said: "I like that the county is actively trying to acquire IT companies because it can eventually lead to networking and partnership opportunities. Most IT companies are in Silicon Valley where the culture is so different. Sometimes it feels like the main focus is stock appreciation during the next M&A deal. We badly need a counterpoint to Silicon Valley with different values, and maybe this is the first piece of the puzzle."
